Dear Health Conscious Friend.

 Hallo, my name is Francois du Toit.  At the beginning of this year I sat down to set my goals for the year.  I have family-goals, financial goals, recreational and spiritual goals.  And definitely, I have wellness goals.  When I first heard the quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson, immediately I made it my own.  He said:  “The First Wealth is Health.”

 Since you are still reading this letter, we both assume that you fall into this category that I stipulated in the previous paragraph.  The information we’re about to discuss is exclusive information.  It’s not because it’s some secret or conspiracy, but because only a few people who get hold of this, are going to use it and get the results that goes along with it.  Therefore do I congratulate you on being someone who walk the talk.

 Just to give you and example:  The formula to get fat is:  No exercise, eating a lot of junk food, staying negative in your emotions about your body.  When you put these together, you have a foolproof plan to get fat. 

 The formula to a balanced healthy lifestyle is basically:  Eat healthy, effective exercise and staying motivated.  I like the comparison a fellow wellness coach makes.  He says that if you’re building a table, the amount of legs you put on the table determines the stability.  With one leg, the table won’t stand, even in the most desirable conditions.  With two legs, you could lean it against a wall to keep it upright.  The more legs you put onto the table, the better it would stand. 

 If you put a lot of different things into your health program, your results would come much faster and become permanent results.  When the table has twelve legs, and you remove one of them for a while, you could still dance on the table.  If you temporarily remove one of the parts from your balanced lifestyle, your results will still be exactly as you want it. 

 I want results for myself, and I’m going to share the formula I’m using myself with you.

 

Being healthy doesn’t mean radical changes.

 Fortunately for you, you are already health conscious.  There are already a couple parts of this formula in place in your life.  So the changes needed in your particular situation won’t be radical.  Maybe you need to find a more effective exercise plan.  It might be that you need to look at certain parts of your eating plan.  Maybe you need a more simplified eating plan.  It might be that you want to keep focused on your goals, but somehow you get sidetracked.

 Since I sat down to write my goals, I made some small changes myself, and I very pleased with the results.  I’m committed to drink at least 2 liters of water daily and to detox once a week.  I’m exercising moderately (three days a week for 30 minutes). 

 To feel the amount of energy that I have available, since I made these small changes, is fantastic.  My head is clear to concentrate on my work.  And even after a long working day, I still have enough energy for my wife and hobbies. 

And the part which excites me most is the progress I see towards my main health related goal.  I’ve always been the skinny guy.  I don’t have excess fat, but I also don’t have any excess muscles.  My body looks like the marathon runner’s.  I’ve always wanted to be muscular, but somehow it didn’t realize.  Even when I’m exercising only moderately, I’m constantly gaining muscle weight.  I want to gain 20kg during this year.  So far, I see a constant gain of 0.5kg per week.  That is 2kg per month.  With this tempo, I’ll reach my goal within 10 months.  So next time my brother in England will see me, he’ll surely envy me. 

 A small change in my exercise program gave me these positive results.  Later in this letter I’ll tell you about a scientific study about small health changes.

How we’ll Design Your Personal Program.

 Everybody is different and every body is different.  Your schedule is different than mine, you experience different emotions than I do.  You are built in a different way than the person next to you.  There are some general principals that are applicable to everyone, but there are a lot of variables we need to take into account to get optimal results. 

 In this service, you and I will take the general principals and add your personal variables to it. 

 When we make small changes to your eating plan, we’ll find the best balanced nutritional intake which your body need.  We’ll combine ‘normal’ food with nutritional supplements.  And then we’ll keep it as simple as possible.  There won’t be any calorie-counting or portion weighing necessary.  Some programs give very complicated calculations and formulas, that a lot of people get confused and discouraged.  In designing your program, leave the calculations to me.  What we’re looking for is an easy to follow program.

 Christopher Guerriero from the National Metabolic & Longevity Research Center in California, America, done a study once about the best way to achieve health related results.  They made two groups of people.  One group was put on a very strict diet and exercise program.  The other group was put a moderate diet and exercise program.  Which group do you think had the best results?  It was the group on the moderate program.  The first group worked hard, got burned out, and quitted.  Then after a while they return to their strict program, only to quit again after some time.  The second group had little effort to keep up with their program.  They made small, but gradual and continuous improvements. 

 This study convinced me to suggest small changes in my clients’ programs to achieve the fastest possible long term results.  Unlike a famous psychological TV personality, who walks into his client’s kitchen and immediately remove everything that looks unhealthy, I’d prefer moderate changes.  That way we have a much greater chance for success.  You and I will agree on these changes before it’s implemented.

 When we go to the subject of exercise, there are also a lot of effective programs out there.  Depending on your goals, we’ll find you the one most appropriate to you.  I want to build muscle, and I’ve found the program for me.  My wife exercise to maintain her shape, and she uses a different program.  My brother also wants to build muscle, but not as intense as I want to.  His program looks different than mine.  You might be an amateur runner, and need to stay fit.  Your program is completely different to any of the previous.  Some people wants to spend hours training, other want to be as quick as possible.  Some like going to the gym, other like to train at home.  Some people’s schedule allows them to exercise in the morning, others want to work out after work.  As you can see, the options in terms of exercising are almost endless.  And somewhere in these options is the ideal solution for you.  We’ll find it.

 The area that is mostly overlooked when it comes to wellness is your mental attitude.  This includes stuff like goal setting and achieving, maintaining the optimum frame of mind to achieve results, tools to use, and so forth. 

 I spend 6 years to acquire 2 counseling related degrees.  While I was working in my field, I continually read books and studied different kind of programs to find the really powerful stuff.  But still, I’d like to keep it simple, easy to follow with great results.
