(My Philosophy on Great Health)

To get healthy and stay healthy for the long run, is quite simple to achieve.  In everything I do, I always want to keep it simple.

The Beginning of Great Health:

Health starts with our bodies.  Health is the normal and problem-free functioning of our bodies.  That is to have the ability to do all the things we want to get done.

The question that we need to answer is what is the best possible way to take care of our bodies?  Scientist searched for the answer to this question, for a long time now.  And they found very exiting stuff.  The interesting thing about this type of research is that it is so detailed and sometimes very complicated, but still, it’s exiting.

When we give our bodies what it needs, it performs almost miracles.  Give it the correct food, and it’ll work perfectly, add exercise and rest to it, and we have a winning combination.  With a lack of the right nutrition, deficiencies will form and can lead to a lot of different unwanted conditions, such as diseases, being overweigh or the lack of energy, to name a few.  The third area of great health, is a healthy mindset.  The way we think about ourselves and our health determine in a huge way what level of health we experience.  If we feel trapped with some condition, we tend to believe there is no hope, no solution.  But there is a solution, because other people overcame that same condition.  Since I’m qualified as a counsellor, guiding people to a new healthy mindset is a very satisfying part of my work.

Fortunately, great health is not rocket science, it’s a lifestyle.  As we make positive changes towards a healthy lifestyle, we will see changes.  And as time goes by and the positive changes build on each other, our lives will continue to get better and better.

When working with my clients, we make small and effective changes.  Later on, these small changes accumulated and the difference is huge.  When a client wants to make bigger changes, faster, we’ll do that.  Whatever is right and even comfortable for every one personally, that’s the way we take.  Breaking old, unhealthy habits is necessary, but to keep up with the new habits sometime get difficult.  That’s why small changes give better results in the long run, than big dramatic changes.  Our bodies also react better to small changes than to bigger ones.

Keep it simple:

Another thing that I realised is that we are wonderfully created.  Although health is a very exact science, we don’t need to be as complicated as the scientist suggest in their studies.  Some programs work with very strict guidelines, such as the weighing of food or the precise timing of meals.  I found that these complicated and precise plans leave a lot of people discouraged.

Broad guideline can have the same and even better results than the strict rules.  One person, who focuses on weight loss, once did a study about weight loss plans.  One group of people were on a very strict diet and exercise plan, and the other on a moderate plan.  The people on the moderate plan got the best results.  The reason for that was that on the strict plan, the participants got discouraged, and quit the program.  After a while, they start again, just to be burned out again.  These on the moderate plan had little difficulty to continue their plan, and had great results.

To make sure that my clients get great consistent results, I like to keep it moderate and simple.  There is no calorie counting, no prescribed diet, almost no forbidden foods, etc.  I even allow myself and my clients to cheat one meal per week.  That is to eat the most delicious, horrific, terrible, unhealthiest meal you can think of.

Unnatural things in a healthy lifestyle:

To be hungry, to have cravings or to skip meals is unnatural in a healthy lifestyle.  These are signs that there is something missing.  When your body gets all it needs, you won’t be hungry or have cravings.

In certain cases, it’s very good to skip meals.  But that should be when you’re busy with detox, not as a habit or when you don’t have time to eat.

Normal food is almost all we need to give our bodies all the nutrients it needs.  Because of various reasons, our food doesn’t have all the nutrients that it used to have.  A great food supplemental range will fill that gap.  (I don’t want to use sales talk here, but the range I prefer and use myself is Herbalife’s.)
